Disable the filter warning in ActivDriver v5

For those looking to disable the all-new, more aggressive filter warning in ActivDriver version 5, here's how it's set:

 

When the ActivMgr executable which sits in your systray loads up, it looks in two locations for a file called Activmanager.ini in

 

%appdata%\Promethean\

 

and

 

%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Promethean\

 

Typically there won't be a file in All Users and, annoyingly, even if there is one it is overridden by the settings in the user's %appdata%. This means you might need to delete any existing settings files in people's profiles before putting your settings file in All Users.

 

The settings the file can control (amongst other things):

 

Disabling the filter warning

Disabled:

 

projector.use=false

 

Enabled:

 

projector.use=true

 

Setting how often the filter warning pops up

Monthly:

 

projector.warningPeriod=2

 

Fortnightly:

 

projector.warningPeriod=1

 

Weekly:

 

projector.warningPeriod=0

Thanks for this, I've never got why they deem it nessesary to enable it by default - do they really thing the end user is going to clean the filter?

In ActivDriver v5.1.2.7 you have the option to turn off the projector warning through ActivManager - select the ActivManager icon on the system tray and choose "Control Panel" next select the Projector tab and you will see the filter tick box.

Sadly Promethean have yet again made this a per-user setting, which suggests that they think teachers should be cleaning projector filters.

 

HINT: Most projectors have had their own on-screen filter timer warnings for, ooh, a few years now...

Thank you for posting this - it worked perfect until I started using Windows 7. Can anyone help me finding the ActivManager.ini when using Windows 7?

Thank you for this. It provided the exact information I needed and you are my hero forever. For my district, I put together a batch file which performs the steps you outlined automatically. I'm posting it here to hopefully help others. It automatically deletes all user-specific configuration files for ActivManager, then creates a copy of the included activmanager.ini file in the All Users folder.
