As I have about -1000 hours a week spare at the moment, our website is an abomination (not entirely my fault, as the content is the main issue - there is none).

So, our head has asked if I can source website designers to create a new, fancy site. Also, it would have to be done speedily (ie. in the next week or so)...

So, anyone know of such miracle workers who can craft a full school website, magic content onto it and get it on our server in hardly any time?

Edugeek Joomla package requires someone to have the time to set it up... We don't have that time.

Budget? Bugger all. I was quoted 'if its thousands, that'll be an issue'...

Will have time to maintain it though once it has been setup?

This has been said to the SMT over and over. Supposedly, it will be maintained by 1 member of staff now... We'll see.

At least if you use the Edugeek Joomla package you can give certain members of staff permission to update the info.....my head loves it!

We already use Joomla. No-one has maintained it up until now, even though they have access to it.

I'll take a look at E4education, thanks.

I have dealt with Arrowscape occaisonlly as a number of our supported schools use them. Found Tony and his team to be professional and they know their market.

Getting a site up in a week. Tell the head to be realistic.

In house can often be pretty good if you have the time and skills to do it. I personally like these in-house developed sites from two of the schools I help support. Just shows what can be done.

A website in 1 week? You certainly won't get anything professional in that sort of timescale. Why does the head want something in 1 week out of interest?

We recommend Creospace to all our clients who want website design/development, they are not cheap and don't hire them if you want anything on that list :)

Ah, that sucks...

Arrowscape was actually the company my school was going to use before i started and recently did the joomla site for them...

1 week because we have an open day coming up in 2 weeks, and he's realised our website is a mess at the moment. He keeps seeing fancy sites (which obviously cost a fortune) and saying 'why can't we have one like that?'...
