docboggle Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 We have a new child in school that suffers from dyslexia. They find things a lot easier when using a coloured page. I know you can buy coloured filters to put over books and computer screens, but does anyone know if there is a simple piece of software that could replicate this effect by just tinting the screen?
JJonas Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 We usually just set them up a custom profile
OutToLunch Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Screen Tinter That's great! Working in a SEN school so any little freebie apps like this are always handy to discover...
a_monkey_hint Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Giving students a roaming profile and allowing them access to the appearance settings (to change the 'window' colour) usually does the trick.
JJonas Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 anyone managed to wrap this into an msi? Did you have any luck with this?
clareq Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Unzip the exe using 7z or a similar application - there's an msi in there.
JJonas Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Unzip the exe using 7z or a similar application - there's an msi in there. I tried that one I dont think that msi contains the screen tinter package.

JJonas Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Has anybody got a working MSI for screen tinter or want to make me a working MSI? or alternative software that is an MSI?
kip Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 Might be worth having a look at these options T-Bar - coloured bar which can be dragged around over any window to provide filtering. Colour and transparency can be altered to suit ssOverlay - colour cast over the whole screen, colour and transparency can be altered to suit. RapidSet - simple global colour changer as per ScreenTinter Vu-Bar - on screen slotted ruler similar to the physical rulers used by some dyslexic children. Washer - converts everything below the application to grey scale All these apps are available from Fx Free Software & Assistive Software, download site for VuBar, TBar, Edgeless & other applications on the Assistive page. many other useful apps there as well 1
