Now, I know there are a few old gamers out there. And I guess there are a few fans of the Monkey Island series.

What you may not know (I only came across it a few days ago) is that there is a brand new Monkey Island game out now!

Telltale Games - Tales of Monkey Island

 

This new game is being released in 5 parts. Two have been released already, and the third is due any time now.

 

I must say I have enjoyed the new games so far and, once you get used to the slightly awkward interface, it is some good old grog fuelled fun!

 

And for those who want to relive the old days, they have release the original game in a new special edition "HD" version.

I remember two things about Monkey Island from my younger days - they were really funny yet really difficult in places. I used to wish they'd made it a bit easier as not to break up the flow of the story.

 

Classic games though, and one of the few I'd make time for to play these days.

Bought the secret of monkey island special edition for my iPhone a few weeks ago. Was playing it earlier while waiting for some people and it brought the memories flooding back

Downloaded episode 1 for the Wii last night! Can't wait to play it tonight!

I remember Monkey Island well, but was more than a little put off by how the new one sounded when it got the ZP treatment!

Cool! Finished the first episode the other night. Most enjoyable

 

However I can't get ep2 for the Wii yet, wonder when this will be released?

 

edit: Ep2 released for WiiWare in Europe 25th Sep. Grr gotta wait a whole 5 days!

Is it just me that thinks this new lot are a blight on the good name of threepwood?

I turned it off after about 10 minutes - awful dialogue, and full of obvious set peices. Please tell me it gets a *LOT* better.

 

Also.. are the really awful 3d visuals just my laptop, or did they let the yt kid loose?

I have only played the first episode but I enjoyed it a lot. I don't think that it was as hard a MI game as I am used to but thats not such a bad thing. Everything has a logical solution, all the past games had a least one puzzle that I had to look up the answer as it had a ridiculous solution.

Looked good on my Wii, but there were some annoying pauses that got on my nerves.
