The UPS is reporting extended overvoltage. A quick Google search suggests that this is to do with the feed coming into the room? Can anyone advise? Having to use mobile internet on phone as Internet is down here so I can't really go trawling the net to find out exactly what this means.

 

Any help appreciated as always.

Hi,

 

As the message suggests it basically means that the voltage hitting the UPS is greater than it has been told to expect. This can be an issue but depends on how the UPS is configured, for example, if it has been told to report an over voltage at 241V then I wouldn't worry too much however if it is 260V then it might be worth giving an electrician a call and getting him to check things out.

 

As it's an APC UPS have you check the logs? They have a nice web GUI that gives loads of information.

mines has been doing this too - spoke to APC who said to turn the intervals of alerts down, but now it says it is on battery power due to a power input problem for 1 second then flicks back to mains.

 

It happens everyday at the same time.

 

Spoke to an electrician working here and he said you have no problems - the APC is on its own breaker fed from a new board with a new 32amp breaker??

From what I can see the high transfer voltage is set at 253. Will see if it happens tonight as there has only been one report. Event log shows AVR Trim active around same time?

We have this at 9 sites, it's nothing to worry about it just means our suppliers don't give us feed's exactly to spec and the UPS is sorting it out for us heh.

We had one like this too, can be a faulty trip switch even though they test fine. Took weeks to work it out as the leccy said it was all fine. I think my mate said theirs two types and one shouldn't be used for computers I'll ask him when i see him and try and get back to you :)
