mossj Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Excellent thank you, ive now done that and have added myself permissions to it, but again when i try to open a users inbox via outlook, i select the account from the list and click ok it still says "unable to access the folder. the inbox cannot be found" find out what the inbox is actually called using the exchange system manager.... maybe you have a diffrent naming convention for mailboxes (which would be very odd)
mb2k01 Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Excellent thank you, ive now done that and have added myself permissions to it, but again when i try to open a users inbox via outlook, i select the account from the list and click ok it still says "unable to access the folder. the inbox cannot be found" You need to close outlook down and re-open it! Strange but true! 1
Willott Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 And as always in this kind of situation, it's best not to be on your own when opening the mailbox. 2
mrmontymick Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 And as always in this kind of situation, it's best not to be on your own when opening the mailbox. Solid advice if ever I heard it.
WOW_freak Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Excellent thank you, ive now done that and have added myself permissions to it, but again when i try to open a users inbox via outlook, i select the account from the list and click ok it still says "unable to access the folder. the inbox cannot be found" See my earlier reply. I get this same problem, but doing it the way I posted seems to open it for me.
asheppard Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 And as always in this kind of situation, it's best not to be on your own when opening the mailbox. In these situations I also always get a member of Senior Management to provide me with a written request of exactly what they want.
srochford Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 pfdavadmin is also a useful tool for this sort of thing. As the name suggests, it's mainly to do with public folders but it will also act on mailboxes.
kevbaz Posted July 17, 2009 Author Posted July 17, 2009 All sorted guys, the restart of outlook sorted it. THANK YOU ALL very much for your help Kev 1
