In the previous version of Firefox (I now have 3.5) I could click on the drop down from the address bar and select one of my frequently visited sites. The browser has now stopped doing that on my laptop, but not my desktop machine. As far as I can tell I have them set up just the same :( I thought that all settings stayed the same when upgrading to a newer version but this time the setting appear to have changed.

I'm obviously missing something any suggestions please?

Are you using Google Toolbar?

It's pretty tightly integrated and caused a few problems when I upgraded to FF3.5.

You need to install the very latest version of Google Toolbar.

Now running version 5.0.20090324W

Strangely their Download Link from their Toolbar Help page (top left of page) mentions T6 and is currently a broken link , so maybe Toolbar 6 will be here shortly????

Not that's it's much help to you but Firefox 3.5 under OSX certainly still has that drop down, I'm looking at it at the end of the address bar now next to the bookmark star and an RSS feed icon for this site... does FF3.5 have a private browsing mode like safari now? Perhaps that's been enabled?

I found that a pain as well when i first went to 3.5 beta. What it does is it builds the drop down from your bookmarks rather than from your history.

You can change it in tools - options - privacy - history - when using location bar suggest...

Thats in windows, Ive not upgraded to 3.5 in linux yet.

I would make a backup of your bookmarks etc and you can try and reset it in safe mode but personally I would un install the lot and download the new installer and re install from fresh and test - if it works then put your bookmarks back

Try Tools/Options, choose the Privacy tab and then select your preferred option for "When using the location bar, suggest:"?

Check you are not clearing the history each time you shut-down.

Also try bookmarking all your frequently visited sites. They should show up then.
