ajsidike Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 I need to find a MIS solution that works....what is everyone using out there??? I know about CMIS, SIMS.net, Integris, Pearson Phoenix. Can anyone recommend any product
Jeremy69 Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 We use SIMS and have done for just over 20 years. Man Boy and DOS. Is it perfect? No. It has, however steadily improved and behind it is a large organisation who can devote the time to sorting out the many changes of mind that government, exam boards etc have on an almost weekly basis. It might not be a popular answer on this forum but I would recommend it.
vikpaw Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 I'm a big time SIMS user at the moment, but have used Bromcom in the past and really like the new interface and support they have. SIMS new look from June onwards is becoming much more user friendly too, especially as you use more and more of the modules.
Tester2001 Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Check out the Bromcom, they also have a great feature for parents to look at their kids, attendance and marks etc they call it MCAS, My Child at School

Netman Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Have a look at iSAMS iSAMS|Home. We are just deploying it here and it seems like an excellent system....
kxv2020 Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 (edited) I would recommend SIMS.net - I've used CMIS and used Bromcom for ereg a couple of years back. Sims.net is becoming our one stop shop for everything and we are trying to ensure that staff are behind this as well. Behaviour, Assessment, Lesson Monitor - all accessed from the homepage! Yes - ofcourse Sims.net has its problems [delayed patches; etc]- but so does every other MIS! We have are using SIMs.net for everything from appointment times for parents' evening to Online Reporting through the SLG. Edited August 18, 2009 by kxv2020
Sivadam Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 It's gotta be SIMS. Over 22,000 cannot be wrong ......................
powdarrmonkey Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 It's gotta be SIMS. Over 22,000 cannot be wrong ...................... Or, 22,000 evaluated the three big players and said 'SIMS is the least evil'...
Sivadam Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 (edited) Well at least one of the 22,000+ will take exception from that remark ........... SIMS does a brilliant job as set up at our place. Yep you do get the odd issue (as you are bound to do with such a comprehensive system that is continually having to develop at short notice in response to DCSF 'initiatives') but Support is excellent in their response! As per another similar thread in this Forum - my last word on this Topic. It seems it is impossible to educate those that have a unfair negative opinion! Edited August 19, 2009 by Sivadam

creese Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 They still miss the pen and paper system Chalk and slate.
Greg Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 SIMS with SLG for remote access. It's a robust platform.
