Just want to say a great version of Ubuntu for notebooks is Easy Peasy. I have it on my Eee 701 at the moment and its great - highly recommended.

Big WARNING on this distro - just don't play with the Switch Desktop Mode - this is really really buggy and I have already buggered up my desktop + layout. LEAVE IT ALONE - other than that, it's a cracking OS for the EeePC.
