Sylv3r Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 Hi all I wonder if any users who have the Learning Gateway have come across this problem. When browsing for a member of staff you can see the teachers table for the day, but I would like to be able to click on the "Teacher's Timetable..." link to see their full timetable for the week. This works for students after a little tweaking with permissions etc, but I can't get it to work for staff timetables. I get the following error (see attached). The "Teacher Timetable Calendar Data" webpart has the error. I would also like to introduce the staff and student daily timetable on the main staff and student pages so the user can see straight away what their timetable for the day is - is this possible?
EduTech Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 It appears to work ok for me, see attached image i just did a search for a staff member > click on the member of staff > show timetable James.

No data just the calendar webpart. ok, well really you should have data there... i do anyhow.. even if i go there without searching for a teacher first. (if you search for someone who dont have a teaching timetable i.e. yourself you wont get any data) Give me a few minutes, just going to see if i can see any settings that should be set in the webpart view.. otherwise it might be a support call with your provider. James. Do you only have the one webpart on the list page? Or is one of the hidden ones assigned?
EduTech Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 I have Teachers Timetable which is just a list veiw webpart, that pulls through the calendar and then a hidden webpart called "Teacher Timetable Calendar Data" James.

Thanks James I get the same error message even after I add the Teacher Timetable Calendar Data webpart manually. Ah well
EduTech Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 Have you installed the June 2009 Update by anychance? If you have installed the June 2009 update on the server, but your webparts have not been updated this will also cause these kind of errors.. James.

This is something that has never worked since we installed it, I am just getting round to having a play and trying to fix it this weekend.
EduTech Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 Oh right, i would speak to capita/smis depending on who you deal with and they should be able to sort it for you.. something obviously is not setup correctly. I have found a licence error with ours now so i will be emailing our SMIS team in a minute lol James.
meastaugh1 Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 Are you both referring to sites you have created using the SLG site creation procedure, or just plain sites you've added the SLG2 web parts to?
EduTech Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 our SLG is hosted by SMIS centrally for all Sandwell Schools, the pages/webparts are all setup by default. i can change them around if i wish and they still work no problem. James.

James. That would explain why yours is working. Sylv3r, unless you have completely changed the Quick Launch and regional settings, it looks as though you have added the the web parts to a site not provisioned by SLG site creation. I suspect the reason the timetable web part isn't working is because the relevant SLG (hidden) site features are not active.

I suspect the reason the timetable web part isn't working is because the relevant SLG (hidden) site features are not active. This was setup out of the box so to speak, so its not something I have messed about with although working from home after 6 or 7 cans it might have been something I have "tweaked" late at night I have changed regional settings and quick launch so I guess that is why it doesn't look like an out of the box install. I am going to investigate here further and will post on here if I find a solution.

As an aside, I'm fairly confident that the regional setting you changed (presumably from US to UK) will be incompatible with the SLG timetable web parts, although I doubt it is the cause of the error. In my experience when the site's regional settings are changed from US the first page of timetable events are displayed but scrolling to the subsequent weeks/months will return no results.
NewOrder Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 I have a similar problem with My Planner list. Everything is fine on the sites created by slg and we know how to create sites that work with sims. We have created the MY Planner list with the columns and have it set to a calendar view. We have added the sims webparts to the site that feed this list and we have amended the webparts. It still does not work. What is intersting is that the my planner has a list icon in all content but when you open it from there it has a calendar icon. Strange

When you say you've amended the web parts, have you both set the list that the data web parts should be populating to the name of your list and checked the 'Enable this context' box in the web part settings? 1
