What about K9 Web Protection?? I use it on my kids PC and know of several friends and family members that use it for their kids as well.

 

It has some nice features like an override option and you can set your own white/black list. Best of all it is free for residential use.

another vote for K9.

 

Been a while since I tried it out but I did note that if your kids knew how to access the email account you used when you set it up they would be able to request a code to turn it off. So watch out for that one.

Another, although rather complicated and tech savvy, solution is to run a SmoothWall Express on an old machine with DansGuardian.

 

Another options is OpenDNS > Solutions > Home Network > Parental Controls

 

The first is a non starter completely. Im looking at something I can mass roll out to families, no-ones going to want a whole other machine.

 

And Im looking for a whole monitoring system, not just web filtering. I want stats, time restrictions, email monitoring, regular screenshots even, etc etc.
