Don't suppose anyone has a e-safety policy they would like to share.

 

I would be eternally grateful!!

 

We have ofsted this week and I'm just trying to get everything in order.

i can see the benefit in a before hand esafety inspection before Ofsted, what IT would want to know is what exactly is involved in an esafety check

Making sure that your policies adheare to safe internet searching and online behaviour are an important part of e-safety

the school would need to firstly have a policy for Internet usage and pupil behavour online................ then i'm assuming the esafety check would be seeing what software if any they have in place to monitor and control this

It's the other way round - it's not so much what software is used, more that policies should cover it and are being adhered to.

 

Also note that filtering/monitoring works up to the point that people bring in their own internet connections (i.e. mobile devices).

 

eSafety encompasses not just use of the Internet in lessons, but *any* form of electronic communication *at any time* (including outside of school), communication between the staff and parents.....pretty much anything you can think of.

 

I'd encourage everyone to read an LEA's policy on the subject if only to get a feel for how in-depth this is (a couple of links have been provided above, http://www.thegrid.org.uk/eservices/safety/documents/esafety_model_policy_draft_apr09.doc is another).

Covered in a different thread. When the SSAT went over to a management buyout a number of domains were not retained at the time, and this one has been poached and is being squatted on. They are presently looking at getting it back.
