Latest Sophos Update kills Sibelius

Just updated the AV software on the Director of Music's laptop after installing Vista SP2. Upon launching Sibelius 5.x (5.2.5 to be precise, affects all versions).

 

Splash screen gets stuck on "Creating Tool Windows : ToolName"

 

Upon removing Sophos it was back to normal, reinstall sophos from the Enterprise Console and it dies again.

 

Rang up Sibelius and they were aware of the problem, (but you only get support for 30days after registering the serial).

 

Just a heads up for anyone.

Thanks for that, our music department have some new computers that they intend using Sibelius on. I'd prefer that they aren't put on the network, so this could be the excuse I need.

The thing I find stupid is if companies know about this problem, why don't they notify security vendors (such as Sophos and Symantec) so they can adjust their software accordingly? Makes a lot of sense to me.

 

I came across this exact issue recently with a software company and they didn't seem to 'get' what I was saying, bearing in mind Sophos is probably used in the majority of schools (in Birmingham at least anyway). Would save software vendors a lot of support calls if they planned ahead and dealt with these problems sooner.
