Has anybody got a definite working solution for this?? We have 4 of these printers and they all do the same thing, as described by oxide54. Users send documents to print and what comes out is the document printed by the previous person i.e. working one behind.

I have updated the firmware to the 8th March 2010 version (latest on the HP site) and also loaded the latest drivers. Following from what I've read above I have just made sure SNMP is disabled and have disabled the duplex printing option.

Is there anything else I should do? Is this beta firmware that people are talking about newer than the one I have??

Any help is appreciated

Hi

I dont know if the beta firmware will fix that but I have seen this issue before and I am sure when we switched types of driver (aka from PCL->PS or the other way round) it fixed it. Basically I think they job gets stuck in the printers memory. Oh actually while I think about it are you using separator pages?

Hi ZeroHour, no not using a seperator page. We are however using the PCL driver. Do you think switching to PS will cure this? I was confused as to wether the beta firmware was newer than what I have?

Cheers

The beta firmware will probably be newer but I think only in the sense it fixes the offline bug. I would def try switching to PS and see how it goes for a couple of test prints.

@ZeroHour - Could you PM me the information to get the Beta Firmware? I went ahead and ordered 5 of these and I'm going to get them all updated before I put them out into the work environment to hopefully avoid the offline issue all together. I'll be sure to update later whether we do/don't have any issues with it.

I'd also like to add that this thread has been very helpful in researching this product. :D Makes me think this is a forum to stick around.

its quite a good one as far as forums go.

not quite the ego-fest some other forums descend into.

and the search button is definitely your friend, i do have questions but I hardly ever post them because 9/10 times its already been covered.

Hi guys, just registered to ask if anyone still has the beta firmware that will fix the offline problem? All our 6 new P2055dn suffered from this and it was driving me mad...

Hi Zerohour could i have the beta firmware please. We have 14 of these 2055s, when their working their brilliant fast, quiet etc. but this going off line. I have resorted to putting a label on each printer stating if offline turn printer on and off lol.

Here is a picture of the before and after the beta firmware update. You may notice one that the version number changes but also that printers plugged into a gig network port will now run at full GB rather than slowing down to 100mb

I'd like to get a copy of that firmware, too. The corporate overlords made this their standard issue network printer and I have 56 of these things on my network that generate calls from the user population when they go to printer never-never land. Apparently no one bothers to read the emails I send out about IT issues...

Thanks in advance for saving what little is left of my sanity.

Could I get a copy too please? :)

Just bought 3 P2055dn's (£230 + £80 cashback!) and already have another thats got this issue, although it wasnt being reported by staff until recently :S

I take it the firmware here (march 2010) doesnt fix it?

Any ideas how long has this one been in beta? Is it purely to fix this problem?

Thanks

Sent, August was when we got the firmware and they said it would go live soon but no release yet. It seems to only fix the offline issue but that was the only major issue we had so its hard to tell.
