Student Laptop Return Letter

Hi

 

I have been asked to write a letter to the parents of the Year 11's who have to return there laptop they obtained from the computers for pupils scheme. As anybody got any templetes they use i am not sure on how strongly to write the letter.

Dear blah blah,

 

Your son/daughter was provided with a laptop under the laptops for pupils scheme which has now ended so please return the laptop to the school and all cables etc.. in the next 7 days.

 

Failure to return it will result in legal action being taken against you.

thank you Ben that was word for word what i had written but have a feeling the head might thought it was a little brief.

Go with Bossman's letter - much better worded and less confrontational. After all, they may have just forgotten. I don't think they need threatening with legal action at this stage

thank you so much bossman, that has saved me a headache for the afternoon if you dont mind i will tweak this and send it to the head.

I understand why, but the suggestions so far all seem a bit strong for a first letter. I'd expect that you will have to send several, ratcheting up the pressure as far as:- "If you do not either return the laptop and accessories in good order within seven days or pay for replacing it, the school will take action in the small claims court for recovery of £*** and costs."

 

However, the first one could be much nicer! "We hope that the laptop supplied under the scheme helped with your studies. Please could you return it as soon as possible after your last exam so we can prepare it for the next pupil?"

As for you other less grateful people word of caution:

be careful how you come over to parents in any way shape or form as they ultimately hold the power button.

 

I have felt the wrath of parents first hand and it all goes their way believe me, no matter how secure you may feel.
