Nod32 V4

Hi, we recently upgraded one of our servers to Nod v4 and it seemed to freeze all the time, so we thought this was just the server dying as it was pretty old. But it just seemed to lock up all the time even on reboot, the clients were fine though. So anyway we put this on one of our other (new) servers alot better spec and things and it seemed to do exactly the same thing. Has anyone else had any problems with Nod v4.

They're having LOADS of trouble with V4 on servers avoid it.

 

I feel your pain. While it is of no direct help to you, I wouldn't put NOD32 v3 or v4 anywhere near a server. The only version of NOD32 that appears to work well on servers in v2.7. Indeed, given Eset's failure to even bother upgrading their v2.7 XMON product (for Exchange), it would seem that in all likelihood they privately agree. Not that they'd admit this in public, of course.

 

To see what's happened with eset, you need only (1) compare Eset's posts to this forum in the days of NOD32 v2.x to those since v3 (and now v4) came along - you will see they have now adopted the siege mentality of a company and its products under serious fire; and (2) compare people's reactions on this forum (and elsewhere) to the performance, reliability and quality of NOD32 v4 to those of the equally new Avira AntiVirus v9. It's not difficult to draw obvious conclusions.

While still having good protection from NOD32, I've become more unhappy with it since 3 came out, 3 eventually became usable on clients and servers, but I'm not going through it all again with 4. Looking to move to Kaspersky now.

I have to agree we're using 2.7 (doesn't work on Vista/7 though) on XP clients and 2.7/3 on servers, we're graduly moving to 3 at the moment but unless things improve then we won't be going to V4 I just can't risk our Citrix boxes crashing out with 30 users on.

I have almost signed away £3,500 on a new server as our current one is unusable (I can't build more than a couple of clients (WDS/RIS) without it locking up and needing a hard reset.

 

We have Nod32 v4! I will roll back to v3 on the server immediately and test. You all may have saved me the rest of my budget for the year! (Not to mention my sanity)

On the latest here and apart from loads of setup problems it is fine now.

Building 10 machines here and all is stable so far. Definately pointing to Nod. (Or should it be nodding to Nod? )

 

From what I can glean v4 seems to affect some servers but not others. It seems fine on everyone's clients but I think I'm sticking with 3 on the main server (at least for now).

Following the MS best practice on configuring AV for servers (i'll post a link when I find it) might help but V4 does seem unstable.
