BJG Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I usually go to one of the local bakeries for sandwiches, where my complaint isn't about the meagre size of the portions, but the excess. Baguettes overflowing with cheese & mayo; huge slabs of carrot cake. I've recently started getting rolls from the school canteen for the first time for the sake of my waistline.
apeo Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 (edited) Usually bring my own food in but have a school meal on fridays with the team. The food aint bad (i aint picky with food tho) but the child portions thing is so annoying and if it wasnt for the fact that i can use a free ticket, i wouldnt bother. What i usually have (piece of fish, potatoes or pasta with slice of garlic bread. Followed by bowl of crumble) would cost £4.20 (i think) without a ticket. It sounds like i get alot of food but given that i get it in child portions, it aint. Sounds expensive to me if i had to pay full wack, i mean i know where i can get a chinese with drink and pudding for under £5. Theres a Subway that just opened near by so i may just be having some food from there Edited May 13, 2009 by apeo
CAM Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 You think the extra levy on staff meals is for the bigger portion? Everyone knows it is all tax.
Batman Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 (edited) I think this has become a bit of a competition in my office. I brought in some left over Chinese takeaway from last night and my boss cooked a pizza in the food tech room today! A lot of my colleagues will bring cakes into the office from time to time as well... our office has a reputation for being where the food is. It's great. Edited May 13, 2009 by Batman
stu Posted May 13, 2009 Author Posted May 13, 2009 oo i like pizza idea will have to ask the food tech teach, but she gets on with us (ish her pc is being bit broken atm)
john Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Our food is good and there's no way you can complain at £1.65 for two courses! I think stu just annoyed the catering staff - hence the small portions - or maybe they just really like me? I probably won't be fed by ours as i still haven't got them a PC for the Office, its not my fault every wall that I need to drill through has Asbestos problems so I cannot get a wire to the office and Wireless is not possible in the traditional sense as I cannot get signal from a point close enough without the Asbestos again. So until my request for moneys for Ruckus kicks in no PC for the Kitchen. As for your food issue Ric, you not think they are trying to fatten you up as your like me tall and thin so look like you need feeding up, perhaps Stu doesn't need feeding up as much hence the smaller portions for him

I tall and thin thank you very much, just do allot of exercise so like adequate amount of food.
john Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 are you saying I'm fat??! I tall and thin thank you very much, just do allot of exercise so like adequate amount of food. As i've never met you before or see a full person photo (the one of your shirt and hands covered in ink didn't really give much away). But as you have said Rics letting you out of the ball and chain to come to the conference I guess I will meet you then.
rh91uk Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Our canteen are quite good ... has improved. We're on Scolarest down here .... I usually have the Pasta King (in a bowl though ... not a fan of those carboard tub type things some schools have!) with some delicious sauce (meatballs today!) and Cheese. Mmmmmmm!

Sirbendy Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 we have a nice setup here...kitchens and externals in one hall, all manner of options. I usually make my own, but on the occasions I've needed to go up it's been excellent.
