Hi there

We are looking to upgrade our projectors that we use in class with IWB's. The images don't seem to be as sharp/bright as they could be. I don't know much about projectors but I understand we can get some with a better resolution (XGA?)

The ones we have now are NEC VT37's - I think the resolution is VGA. We've had these about 4 years.

Can anyone recommend anything to me - plus prices and where to get them? We need 12.

Well, if you were just going to dump them we could maybe offer you a decent price for them. We only have small classrooms, projectors needn't be that bright, so they might be suitible for us. If not, then I'm sure you can sell them off to staff wanting a home cinema setup :-)

As you have spotted, the difficult bit will be fitting them to the existing bracket (unless someone was sharp enough to fit universal types first time round) and whether the zoom range of the new ones (whatever you choose) will allow you to leave the bracket in the same place.

Thats the quandary we are in - its difficult to know until you buy them whether it is going to suit the job and work like for like.

Ive just done the very thing for the last year or so, so its not such a pain next time! Swapping a bulb out takes a bit longer as you need to remove the whole bracket but its 60% cheaper and future proofed a little ;)

I'm fiddling with one now where we've glued & screwed a piece of MDF to the ceiling to enable us to reposition as required. I'm looking at fitting some Unistrut on the next move, and if I can find the right thing, fit anti-vibration mounts between the strut and the bracket. I'm looking to damp out the vibration from footfalls in the room above. I think to ones in the link will be too stiff; I'm still looking.

Must admit, where possible I now look at putting uni-strut in for the mount, allows you to move it a bit if needed if your just a bit out on the fitment, as well as if you put 1M tracks in as it were that should cover you for good if it ever needed to move again in the future.
