Hi Can anybody recommend a reasonably priced video camera for us to use in school - just for such things as recording assemblies/performances? We currently have a Panasonic VDR-D160 which has proved troublesome due to the recording format - we have to convert if we need to use Movie Maker, for example. Thanks CJ

Hi there Do any schools on here have LearnPads? Are they any good and - importantly - do they support Flash? Or can you recommend an alternative? iPads?? Thanks CJ

Hi everybody We are having our interactive whiteboards and projectors replaced in the Feb half term and I am wondering about how to dispose of the old stuff. I know there are companies that will collect but does anyone know if there is a resale value on these items? We have Series 5 Smartboards which are almost 9 years old but still function, and the projectors are NEC NP215’s - these are just over 3 years old. We also have some NEC VT37 projectors leftover from a previous upgrade - these are about 9 years old. I have looked on eBay and there are some on there - don’t know how they sell though. Has anyone else tried this route? Thanks CJ

Hi We have a Dell XPS-210 in school that we want to run 2 monitors from. The idea is to extend the display, with one application on one screen and a different one on the other. The graphics card that is installed is not capable of this - when connecting an additional monitor I just get the display duplicated and the second monitor is not picked up when I look at the display settings. Can the graphics card be replaced with one which is capable of what we require? Cheers CJ

Hi there Anyone know where I can get a Promethean Board software disk from? A teacher in another school has inherited a board but apparently there is no software/drivers!! I'm guessing a license would be needed though? We only have Smartboards so I don't know anything about this issue. Can anyone help? Cheers

We decided against iPads when looking about a year ago as they didn't support Flash and we couldn't use Education City. Anyone know which tablets can now access this?
-
Yes that's the one I mean. I know, I'm having trouble finding any info. Maybe, Playbooks are a safer option!!

Hi there After purchasing 12 Fizzbooks which haven't lived up to expectations (too slow) - we are now looking for tablets for pupils to use - mainly Internet use (so we need Flash support). I have priced up Blackberry Playbooks, which don't look bad but I just wondered if anyone had heard of the Jazz tablet? It only costs around £75 - but obviously I don't want us to get stuck with another set of duds!! Anyone know anything about this product? Ta Claire

Hi there We had our network upgraded and Windows 7 is now installed on all our laptops and pc's. We have an issue with Dell Inspiron 1300 laptops - they work ok except when we try to display onto an external monitor/whiteboard. Usually we get nothing on the external monitor and Function F8 causes the laptop to crash - the blue screen of death appears!! The drivers are showing in Device Manager as correct. Short of putting Windows XP back on, can anyone help? Many thanks Claire

Haven't bought any yet. Found some refurbished ones on the Currys website for £320 but they've gone. I'm looking for a good deal on 6 iPad2's with WiFi 16GB.

Hi there Can anyone recommend any useful apps for the iPad2 that we can use in our primary school? Many thanks CJ

Hi there A couple of questions regarding iPads. We are looking at purchasing 6 iPads for use in school. Do we just set up an iTunes account for school which we can use on all the iPads? I thought so but have been asked to check. Also, can anyone suggest any useful apps for a primary school - what is anyone else using and what for? Many thanks Claire

Hi Yes we tried hanging them on the monitors. Pupils share a pc though so they were hanging off both sides and they got tangled together with the keyboard/mice cables!! They had fairly short cables too (about 1m). I've seen them hanging on hooks in other schools - we haven't much room though - it's quite a small IT suite. I might have a look at this option though. Thanks for all replies. Claire

Hi guys Thanks for quick replies - this is pretty much what I thought. Guess I'll have to set somebody on untangling duty!! Claire

Hi there We have a problem in school that all the headphones keep getting tangled together. Has anybody tried wireless headphones? How does this work in the IT suite? How much did you pay? Thanks Claire

Hi there We are having a problem with an HP Color LaserJet CP2025dn - think a roller needs replacing but now the part has arrived (with no instructions) I'm not sure what to do!! We may look at replacing the printer as it's 3 years old and expensive to run. Can anyone recommend a good colour laser printer? This is the only one we will be relying on - so decent but not too expensive to run. Many thanks Claire

Hi there Does anyone know how to sync offline files in Windows 7? I mapped a drive to a folder on our server with the Windows XP laptops we have - set the My Docs folder to this location and this synchronises when users log back on. I can force synchronisation by right-clicking on the My Docs folder which is on the desktop. Not sure what happens in Windows 7 - I set something up using the Sync Center but I can't remember what I did and there doesn't seem to be an option to put the folder on the desktop and then force it to sync. Help!! Claire

Hi there We are having a problem with PowerPoint 2003 on one of our laptops. We can open presentations that have been created on other machines and saved to our network but sometimes these lock up. We then have to log off as the laptop freezes. We cannot create presentations as the slides disappear and the menus are greyed out. The laptop then freezes and we have to log off - cannot even get Task Manager up. I reinstalled MS Office (and we also have a converter on for 2007 apps - no conflict on any other pc in school with this though) - this made no difference. Other MS Ofiice apps seem ok. Any ideas? Thanks Claire

Hi there We are looking to improve our children's learning by purchasing some equipment that can be used for accessing online learning tools, eg: Espresso, EducationCity, Lexia, websites, videos, etc. We are looking to have a wireless network installed and are wondering what are the best mobile devices to use - Fizzbooks, netbooks, iPads (or similar), handheld devices. What do other schools use? Thanks Claire

Hi there When you get the message about batteries nearing the end of their life, does this mean that the laptop is still usable as long as it's plugged in? Or will I still have to replace the battery? Thanks Claire

Hi there We have just purchased 10 Easi-View Primary visualisers. I have installed the software on a pc running XP Pro. Everything works ok but when I unplug the usb cable, the pc restarts. I then get a message saying that Windows has just recovered from a serious error. I have an icon in the system tray for STIMON - I right clicked on this and chose exit before unplugging the cable but the pc still restarted. Has anyone else had any problems with this product? Thanks
