Chuckster Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 How can I prevent any type of users from un/ticking the two options are the bottom of the print screen? I don't seem to find an obvious GPO setting to do this. Can anyone help me?
powdarrmonkey Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 I don't know of anyway to prevent it forcefully, but I'm interested to know why it's such a problem?
Chuckster Posted April 28, 2009 Author Posted April 28, 2009 The problem is people are able to do this to Shared network drives where servers are already running low on disk space. Preferably I'd like it so that the option remains ticked for the 'compress drive to save disk space'.
leco Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 Perhaps you could "Hide these specified drives" Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Windows Explorer If the drive is hidden then users will be unable to gain access to the context menu. (I think)
FN-GM Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 Im pretty sure there is a group policy to disable the context menu in windows explorer. Try that.

There is, but then it would be disabled for everything, including all files and folders, which is maybe a little overkill. If you want it it's here: Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Windows Explorer

Hi guys, my NM has disabled the context menu with pupils but they and staff can still get to the properties of the drive and do those alterations of un/ticking. I know it's not a major biggie, but I don't like the fact that they can do this.
mac_shinobi Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 Method for preventing users from compressing files At least for the drive compression side of it
