Quite a shock from a digital camera

Lordy, just taking apart a Kodak C330 - batteries out of the thing - slowly jimming the back off - and I got a quite a large electric shock !!

Funny thing is I can't see a capacitor on there so I have no idea where it came from.....

I got the same thing when I was kid, dismantling a camera and touched the PCB - I thought my finger was going to drop off!

I've never looked into the detail of how they work, so I could easily be a long way off...

 

The CCD (CHARGE coupled device) might have an electrostatic charge on it which could be enough to make one jump?

Thats what I'm thinking, i have no idea what it looks like though. I want to get the PCB off so I can get to the lens.

Any pointers would be appreciated !!

Capacitor is the battery-shaped battery-sized thing next to the battery holder - 5th pic down.

Errr, yeah - been there TWICE !!

 

Thanks for the link - i have two others showing the same problem, this camera at the moment the lens is at a weird angle so that will help now I know how to get to it without killing myself.

CCD is a misleading name, the charge across the cell is tiny. It's going to have been the flash unit that got you.

Thought it might be, which is why I hedged! Didn't think about the flash - blindingly obvious now though!
