KWestos Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 I have just rebooted the server room (after the 5 year electric) testing. Everything seems to be ok but for one thing. No clients can log on. If I plug my PC into the main core switch I can connect. But any computer connected via a 'edge' switch will not find the domain. All switches ping, have an address but will not connect. Please help
matt40k Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 So the clients can't get an IP address? Or they can't connect full stop? How did you turn it on? Core switch > wait for it come back up (fully) > edge switches > servers > clients?
powdarrmonkey Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 I'd work as matt40k says, start at the core and work outwards. Rebooting the clients is important too, they remember when a domain controller disappears but don't always notice that it's back.
tech_guy Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 If any reconfig was done to switch settings it was saved wasn't it?
KWestos Posted April 17, 2009 Author Posted April 17, 2009 Thanks for the replies. For some reason they are working now. My only concern now is that we may have the 'conficker' on our network!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As many of our clients will not update via WUS and this would also account for the 'slower' logons!
cookie_monster Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 (edited) In that case you need to pick a client you suspect update your AV and scan it and also use an online scanner as a double check, apparently no AV package detects every variant once infected. http://www.confickerworkinggroup.org/wiki/pmwiki.php/Main/HomePage Edited April 17, 2009 by cookie_monster
