The other part that I don't often like to listen to is telling me I don't play any games at the moment that justify the purchase. Damnit, Brain!
3s-gtech Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 The reference for these isn't that bad I thought? Cooler is fairly effective etc.
ICT_GUY Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 My 8800GT works just fine on everything I play at the moment. Nothing new that's come out has raised any interest so far this year.

Farcry 2 is also installed, but is just way to annoying to be fun, drive 10 minutes to pick up a mission, drive 10 minutes to the mission, drive back and get another mission yawn.
Jamo Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 The 48xx series has been awesome, people are complaining that the ATI drivers are baggy but I really havent noticed this at all!! I just enjoy playing Crysis at higher than 320 x 240
painejake Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 (edited) Why not go with a 5770 instead? DX11 support as well as more efficient power consumption and faster clock speeds Edited March 11, 2010 by painejake
ahuxham Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 I own two x 4890's and they are absolutely faultless, Crysis 1920x1080 Enthusiast settings and it runs very smooth indeed. Word of warning: 1) They run very hot, around 50c idle, and peak at 80-83c when on full load. 2) They are very very very noisy cards when on full load, the noise they make is immense, never had a card that loud. Saying that, I wouldn't trade mine for any of the newer 5xxx series just for DX11 and Eyefinity, when the cards I've got trumps all.
