Who knows about them? I don't own an i-pod and haven't really had anything to do with them but i've just been asked to buy one as a birthday pressie for my dad. I have about £80 to spend can anyone point out what's the best model i can get for that or if i'd be better spending a bit more if there is a superior model?

Cheers.

If it's definitely an iPod you want rather than another brand of MP3 player - the nano is probably the best bet. If you get it directly from the apple store online they will even engrave it for you as a gift (it's also free!).

Ah I just brought an iPod Shuffle (the new version). It's quality! Love the controls on the earphones. Perfect for when im at the gym or riding my bike. So easy and convenient + it reads out what you're listening to so no taking my hands of the bike! :)

iPod's are quality, I just hate iTunes.

the new nano's shuffle when you shake them!

I had the same situation - ended up with a "classic" for the mother-in-law. She wanted an iPod, and money is no object for the Kenyan folks ;) but if I was buying for myself, I'd sooner have a poke in the eye than apple kit - overpriced, and itunes is seriously awful.

If your dad will only ever use one computer, and you will probably fill the ipod... and you don't mind blowing 15% of your budget on fruit, go apple. Otherwise, i'd go creative or some such.

Only major "pro apple" point is the plethora of docks, should you want such a thing.

Ive been trying to find a Creative Dock for my Sister who I got a Creative Zen Vision W for last year (got it cheap from Creative Direct and its the only Creative product to have a user-replaceable battery that's easily changed!) But failed to find any decent docks for it or other creative products, there are the odd ones out there though. My suggestion is a phono to jack lead into the Aux on the CD player, that works for her and a lot of people but does depend on what your needs are.
