Disabling Right click on desktop?

Hi

I 'm trying to disable users to be able to right click on the desktop and desktop icons. I have looked through group polcies but have'nt found anything that suggests it will do that.

I would very much appreiate it if anyone knows where to locate the group policies (and what there actual names are) to prohibit right cliking on the Desktop and also double clicking on programs within the start menu that brings up C:\Documents and Settings\user\Start Menu\Programs . I have looked at Virtually all the Group policies and have not been able to find anything that suggests that it can be done.

 

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

For the double clicking problem you need to prohibit access to the C drive this is found in user policies under explorer. The above will do the desktop one. All you need to do is change an existing policy.

But dont change the default one, create a new one, that way if you make a mistake you can always go back to the default one.

I agree also dont set it at top level, i would do it only on the students or staff OU

The right-clicking as "FN-GM" says disable context menus, User Configuration/Administrative Templates/Windows Components/Windows Explorer/"Remove Windows Default Context Menus"

 

We also disable access to the C:\ drive. But found recently students can still get to local C drive through My Pictures in the local My Documents, I think through my Computer on the menu on the left hand side. We redirect My documents to their home drive, but doesn't prevent this. So there may be some extra settings somewhere to lock down. Not really worked out how to get round this but I'm trying changes with their profiles, removing My pictures and My music etc.
