Right, i got my new replacement battery, opened the bugger up and pulled and pulled and pulled.....and would it come out?! NO!

Any tips on releasing a battery from an APC 1000? I think it may have swollen...:(

Little Miss - What hardware are you running on the APC 1000? Generally, the only thing that will make a battery swell or vent is badly overloading it.

It might be worth looking at getting a more powerful UPS. Something like a APC 2200 or 3000 would be a nice upgrade I would think.

We had this problem with an APC 1000 last week due to swelling. We eventually had to take all the screws out of the exterior case and *persuade* the battery very gently to come out. What should have taken about 10 mins to swap out took over an hour in the end.

Its not a job for one person you need at least two people to help hold the UPS and the other to pull the battery.

When we eventually got the battery out we must have damaged the plastic casing on the contacts so we had to fix it back up with electrical tape and be very careful when plugging the new battery back in.

A little reel lube will work wonders (comes from a fishing shop) synthetic, plastics safe and very slippery. Two drops down each side will release it toot sweet.
