Staff Unable to veiw documents - Since March Update

Recommended Posts

Posted

Morning,

We upgraded to the March Update on Thursday last week, thankfully so far everything has gone ok and we have had no problems at all. (haven’t done the FMS Upgrade though).

Anyway it’s been brought to my attention this morning that staff are now unable to view documents which i added by the admin staff... (Every day we have a daily notices documents in which informs all staff of events etc going on throughout college).

Now it used to work, so i am guessing there is a permission somewhere which has now taken priority or something as if you’re a user with rights to basically everything /almost everything you can see it. if your just a staff user you cant... the obvious permissions are correct.

Any Help is appreciated.

Cheers

Hi

i was just in the process of posting this as an issue to us we have exactly the same problem but it it doesnt affect everybody it must be a permissions thing i did speak to Capita about and it has been raised as an issue apparently to severity 3 ,hopefully that means it will get sorted soon.

We really rely on it and it has caused us lots of problems.

If you do get it fixed or manage to fix it would you be kind enough to let us know as i will pass on to you

cheers

We have for a long time just created a Daily Bulletin and attached it by title to the main home page(using the add new school bulletin)and it has always worked now some staff do not see the newly attached bulletins even after a reboot and relogging into SIMS

it has to be something to do with the update and some permissions change of some kind

Run S:\setups\SIMSDocumentServerInstaller.exe (on the SIMS server). Reimport the reports.

Sorry if I'm not understand right, long day.

For the OP what you have suggested is a solution to something different, the problem i had was down to permissions i believe.

We came across this problem a couple of weeks ago and raised it with Capita who initially couldn't find anything wrong and suggested the Doc Server install but that didn't work. We than managed to recreate the fault on the Green Abbey data. From our testing we could only get System Managers to see the bulletin attachments, teachers and admin staff were unable to. We've passed this back to Capita with the information that we found and they are "investigating" the problem, unfortunatly we haven't managed to get a progress report from them since just that they are still "investigating" it.

Hi.

Just a quick update, you won't be able to see KB87382 as it's currently a internal KB.

Will update this thread with any news.

Chris

Note to self, don't update SIMS until I checked with EduGeek forums!!!:)

No, KB87805 refers to the homepage (attendance?) not updating. I'll poke you when this patch appears.

Update on Fix from Capita

"Patch 13179 has been created to resolve the issue and will be made available via SOLUS shortly.

The fix has also been included in the June 2009 release of SIMS .net."
