tech_guy Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 Came in this morning and one of our external CCTV cameras is now displaying this lovely quality image. Any ideas or is the camera borked? It's about five years old.

Looks a lot like something has gotten into the lense as the camera is still trying to show an image. I agree that you'll probably need to get it down from wherever it is and have a closer look. 1
SYNACK Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 It's way overexposed, it could be that the UV filter has come off or worn off as it is reminicent of some bad 'uv' type shots that I have seen around the internet that have included visible light. At least it is not detecting NIR otherwise your footage would be rather more graphic 1
use-IP Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 Try cycling the power to the camera, if it remains poor you are likely to need a replacement. You could try substituting camera/lens from another position to fault-find and prove whether it is the camera or the lens (and to check that the poor picture is not actually due to some kind of cable fault from that position). sahmeepee Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 Geez, that software looks terrible Ha! We have some cameras on DM Network Viewer and it is pretty awful. If you want to capture an AVI from it you have to queue up the footage, then tell it to start recording, press play and then press stop when enough footage has been captured. Yes, it's a digital system and you have to record an AVI in realtime! Bizarre.

SpuffMonkey Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 We have it too - but its better than the other one we've got (yep - two separate systems - yippee) - the IVI can't even store avi - only stills - so you have to store a parade of individual images.
