Simon_Gibbs Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Got it, great game, showed those pesky injuns a thing or two, then kicked those damn surrender monkey out of the east coast last night. Don't know if I'll bother with the last bit of the war of independence though.. beating the British? who would want to do that?!

Yeah I am a bit puzzled by the 2nd chapter, I took the french place Fort Niagara, but then what? Didnt seem to be anywhere else to go. Am I supposed to turn on my iroquois allies and kill them too to end the chapter?
Simon_Gibbs Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Your meant to head north. after taking the French town, it should open the map up some more, you get a bit of a cut scene about English and the French fighting, then your told to help them, so you have to take the towns just above, then up into Canada.

Hmm...maybe mine bugged, I took the town but didnt get a cutscene and the map didnt open up. I'll restart it tonight and try again.
Geoff Posted March 4, 2009 Author Posted March 4, 2009 How do you capture towns? In prior games you just parked yourself in the 'square' and stabbed people to death.
TechMonkey Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 I want to as I love this kind of game and love the era but my computer won't run it Am the cry
Jake Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 How do you capture towns? In prior games you just parked yourself in the 'square' and stabbed people to death. I did it by killing/routing all the defenders
Geoff Posted March 4, 2009 Author Posted March 4, 2009 Fair enough. Bloody indians kept running off last night and hiding round the otherside of the hill which explains the problem.
Reaper Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 I met up with one of my old school friends on saturday and it turns out he was a programmer on this game. Did a lot of the Pathfinding stuff on the war-maps.
Jake Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 I met up with one of my old school friends on saturday and it turns out he was a programmer on this game. Did a lot of the Pathfinding stuff on the war-maps. Smack him in the face for me then, the pathfinding on the troops can be a nightmare, trying to get your troops to cross a bridge is almost an exercise in frustration at times. Worse though was that at one point one section of my fort walls was on fire, and I told my troop on the walls to move down to the courtyard just in case. What did they do? They only went and walked through the fire getting most of them killed.
Reaper Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 I think he meant the strategic map not the actually battle map :S Is it that bad then? What spec PC do you need to run the game?
Jake Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 I think he meant the strategic map not the actually battle map :S Is it that bad then? What spec PC do you need to run the game? Nah its not that bad, to be honest I only had the wall fire thing happen once. Bridges are a touch problematic to get units across though, but I'm sure that will be patched. Cant remember off the top of my head what the specs required are, my gaming rig is one of those over the top powerful things so I never pay much attention to the specs.
Reaper Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 I never used to a while ago but I've not had the money available to do a decent upgrade
Geoff Posted March 9, 2009 Author Posted March 9, 2009 Pathing & AI in total war games has always been iffy. Historically it's took patches and 3rd party mods to make it work.

Stuart_C Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 My compuer needs upgrading just before the summer holidays. If I don't get a lot of money to spend on new projects I might have a bit of time on my hands...
