Currently we have Sophos supplied by the LEA. What sort of sum would we be looking at if we had to buy AV in and what seems to be the best for school networks please?

(We have 3 servers and circa 70 workstations).

Last year's renewal of NOD32 Business Edition + NOD32 for Exchange was just short of £500. I have two servers but less than 70 workstations.

I can recommend NOD32, it has a small footprint and works unobtrusively.

For that amount I'd expect something in the region of £300-£600 per year.

Can recommend Eset NOD32 - it's an excellent product...

I, also, can recommend NOD32 - cost us around £700 per annum. Right, that's three of us recommending the same thing, no dissenters, you HAVE to go buy it now :-)

What's wrong with Sophos? Seeming as it's "free"

Paid for by our LEA at present but as Wiltshire becomes a Unitary Authority later this year things may well change. So, I'm factoring a cost into the budget!

I believe Sophos got paid as part of the managed router you got, so it still might be "free". AVG alright, Sophos can be cheap if your education. Still NOD32 seems rather popular around here. Not testing it tho.

Double-check the system requirements, just to make sure your workstations are all up to running it.

Just one of the many reasons I ditched Sophos in favour of NOD32 - the overheads on machines, though I tweaked and changed the settings the software still slowed the users down and clogged up the network. NOD32 does all of the same jobs but does it in the twinkling of an led. I'm happy, my users are happy, it just works for me and my network.
