rocknrollstar Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 Hi, we have several Acer M464 desktop pcs, and use a vga splitter to send the output to both a monitor and projector (IWB). Sometimes I notice shadowing/poor quality on the monitor. The graphics card has a VGA and a DVi output. My question is, can I use both at the same time? I.e. put the VGA to the projector, and at the same time have the DVI to the monitor? Or is a powererd VGA splitter better? Thanks in advance!
FN-GM Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 Dont quote me on this but i think you can use both yes. Give it a go and see what happens Z 1
EduTech Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 Yes i belive this is possible, as we have this in one of our classrooms James. 1
ninjabeaver Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 Yep, we've just run up a PC connected to a projector and tft using this method. 1
rh91uk Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 Yeah this is possible. On one of our dual headed cards we can run two monitors as a direct copy of the other. Can be quite useful, actually. 1
Ric_ Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 A couple of things worth noting mind, if your projector's a distance off a powered splitter will give better results (signal degredation and all that). Also, I noticed once that a powered splitter without the power applied can cause the ghosting you mention on the screen - some muppet had unplugged the splitter and it took ages to figure out! 1
rocknrollstar Posted February 24, 2009 Author Posted February 24, 2009 Great, thanks for the replies. Just to check, the vga and dvi ports are direct from the motherboard (onboard), not a seperate graphics card. Does this make a difference? Thanks.
plexer Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Shouldn't do, you should get the same output on each one as mentioned before. Unless there is a bios setting or something else to disable it. Give it a go and report back. Ben
