Due to finances I'm looking at moving ISP at from BT to somone else. I was just wondering who to go to as I don't a modem or anything as I have a router already. The main thing is cost as I'm paying 29.99 a month at the moment ad have a 40 gig amonth download limit. So any suggestions guys?

I very rarely use all of it unless i decide to downloadx a whole lot of linux iso's, which doesn't happen that often but I don't really want a restrictve limit in place if I can avoid it.

o right, im with NTL and they are doing it for £15.50 a month i think, and that was 2mb/sec and its going up to 4mb/sec and there are no montly usage limits.

 

but NTL being cable i dont think your router would work with it, im not really that clued up on ADSL, but talk talk and bulldog are worth looking at though.... all depends on yr usage these days... lower usage you can get a cheaper package

zen internet, unlimited doenloads £25 but only 512kb/s

no complaints.

I'd also recommend plus net and pipex.

freedom2surf, £24/month, uses the ADSL MAX service (upto 8Mbit, depending on phone line & distance) and has a 50Gb limit a month.

This must apply to new customers, I migrated to Zen after I got capped by plus net, they promised me they had no plans to introduce capping - and haven't capped me yet. I'm moving house soon so looks like I'll be needing a new ISP too

Bulldog want 24.50 a month for a 2meg as the cheaper options have very strict download limits.

I'm currently with DataComms (http://www.dcomms.net), ~£20 for a 512kbps with no download limit and a static IP.

I've been with them 2 years and the only problems I've had are caused by my crappy router.

I wouldn't touch AOL with a barge pole, it's a breach of the TOS to connect using a router other than the USB one they provide (A mate of mine fell foul of that)

i would never use AOL myself, but my girlfriend uses it at home, and she never seemed to have a problem with it... but i guess she is not really a heavy user though

Demon.net here, £19.99 a month for their 'home' option, unlimited use, 1mb line (but would be 2mb if I were nearer my exchange). No static IP but you can pay an extra fiver a month for that ('home office' option).

 

Rarely any downtime, only downside for me is that they've just outsourced their call centres to India and (weirdly) Scandinavia. When I moved house they didn't transfer my account properly and I had two logins at one point. Only ever got billed for one, though... so I shouldn't complain.

I've just moved from wanadoo to Nildram as my speeds with wanadoo have been terrible lately.

 

Hopefully the service with Nildram will be much better.

I'm with plus.net £19.99 pm for a 2mbit connection but unlimited downloads as I've been on this tariff since I joined even though now they don't offer that particular one.
