Morning all,

I need to order 60 Laptops for the Maths department.

As cheap as possible please, budgets are tight.

Can someone recommend a company who are doing the best deal, or who can offer me a great deal?

Doesn't need to be anything special, preferably XP, 1GB Ram, 60-80GB HDD etc.etc.

Many thanks

Cheap + Laptop = Buy twice

Cheap + Laptop + Kids = Total waste of time.

The way i look at it is if you are only saving £10s on each laptop by buying the cheaper one all it will take is for 2 or 3 of them to fall apart and you end up paying more than if you had bought the better ones in the first place.

Buying cheap laptops is like buying cheap tyres; everyone seems to do it, yet they wonder why when they crash.

Anyway, watch out for the really cheap HPs knocking around atm, we have had around a 50% failure rate on them!

I second that, far to many laptops are bought in cheap and then are a complete nightmare to manage. I've yet to see a kid proof laptop.

My main concern about laptops is battery life - it MUST be 6-cell and beefy enough to power what ever daft quad processor that someone decided was needed to run Word and is flogging for £300 :)

I can live with anything else :)

I've bought cheap acers in the past and they are still going after 5 years - batteries are gone but they work fine on the mains :)

regards
