There was a man who worked at the Post Office, whose job it was to process

all the mail that had illegible or incomplete addresses.

One day a letter came that was addressed in shaky handwriting to God, but

with no accompanying address.

He felt compelled to open it to see what it was about.

The letter read:-

Dear God,

I am an 83 year old widow living on a very small pension. Yesterday somebody

stole my purse. It had £100 in it, which was all the money I had until my

next pension day. Next week it's Christmas and I had invited my only two

living friends over for dinner. Without that money I have nothing to buy

food with. I have no family to turn to, so you are my only hope. Can you

please find it in your heart to help me?

Yours Sincerely,

Edna.

The postal worker was so touched that he showed the letter to all the other

postmen and each one dug into his or her wallet and came up with a few

pounds. By the time he had made the rounds he had collected £96, which he

put into an envelope and delivered to the woman.

Christmas came and went. A few days later another letter arrived - in the

same shaky handwriting and, once again, addressed to God. All the postmen

gathered around as the letter was opened.

It read:-

Dear God,

How can I ever thank you enough for what you did for me? Because of your

gift of love I was able to prepare a glorious dinner for my two friends and

myself. We had a lovely day and I told my friends of your wonderful gift.

Yours Sincerely,

Edna.

PS. By the way, there was £4 missing.

I expect it was those thieving to55ers at the Post Office.
