witch Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Trying to install this on one machine. Needs the CD to run which isn't a problem. Runs fine when logged on as admin but if a pupil logs on, we get this error: Director Player 6 Unable to copy the driver file c:\windows\xobglu16.dll to your windows directory. Your disk may be full. Needless to say - the disk isn't full - in fact it is nearly empty. Anyone seen this or can work out what I can do?
ICT_GUY Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Its a permissions problem, you need to give the kids write access to the system folder. Bad idea I know, which is why tis piece of C%*( is only on the SEN computer, with an sen login.
Zimmer Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 This sometimes works for these annoying apps... Create the file c:\windows\xobglu16.dll. Set permissions on the file for your student security group to have full control. This may result in the application seeing the file, writing to the file and allowing the app to run. It may delete the file and replace it and allow the app to run. After running the app if the file is replaced then it may no longer have security permissions for the student group, it may only be set for the user that just ran the application. To fix that either use group policy to set permission on the file during login/logout or use VB scripting during login/logout.

Student permissions on the system folder might be easiest because the way our system is set up, students can't see the C drive anyway so they would be unable to access the system folder themselves Will give it all a go

Our SEN login maps to three drives for the 3 versions.

ICT_GUY Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 In group policy, find the gpo, either computer or user and then go to Computer Configuration>Policies>Windows Settings>Security Settings>File System Add file or directory and permissions.

I created the file but then it just asked for another one, then another so I think it isn't really viable on our sort of set up. Maybe on a laptop where the user has admin rights, but otherwise no. chrbb Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 I think this happened with music box, I ran the software as admin which created the .dll file, then set permissions for everyone - full control on said .dll. In fact the .dll file even sounds the same one. Not sure if this helps but it does sound familar.
