Setting up moodle - Dont know where to start

It's pretty easy to get Moodle running - see https://docs.moodle.org/31/en/Installing_Moodle Follow these and you can't really go wrong.

 

You can host it on your own webserver (where you have total control) or on an externally hosted box (where you have less control and have to pay). Which is best? That depends on your needs. We run ours on our own box. There are a ton of instructions on the web on setting up a webserver, either LAMP, WAMP or WIMP (ours is WIMP - Windows, IIS, MySQL, PHP). Thankfully there isn't a LIMP

 

If you don't want to setup your own webserver, try googling "hosted moodle" and you'll get a shed load of results. Here's one I picked at random https://www.squirrelhosting.co.uk/hosting/moodle-hosting-uk.php
