Just found this interesting article

Our world may be a giant hologram - space - 15 January 2009 - New Scientist

Can't pretend to understand half of it but it seems to boil down to this whole universe not really being here, instead it's just one gigantic hologram. That being the case it poses some interesting questions for those who believe your soul is separate from your body.

All I have to say is...

"Computer, Arch!"

Drat, didn't work! Still, worth a try eh?

He showed that the physics inside a hypothetical universe with five dimensions and shaped like a Pringle is the same as the physics taking place on the four-dimensional boundary.

Who knew the universe was shaped like pringles?

Or, to put it another way, a holographic universe is blurry

Yes I often get that after a late night.

Why else do you think we get fog? It's not really two weather fronts meeting, it's to cover up the rendering artefacts in the distance...

My personal favourite theory for those that fancy a follow up is the [ame=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthropic_principle]Anthropic Principle[/ame]

My paraphrase of it is that the universe exists the way it is because we are here to see it behave like it does :)

But things might appear differently in YOUR universe :)
