Our local LA has a Select Licensing agreement with Microsoft. Does any one know how we would go about getting licenses under this agreement? Can we purchase licenses from a distributor directly under this agreement or is it more involved than this? Ta
speckytecky Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 My understanding is that you can through the agreement order software and licences through companies such as Ramesys who link into the agreement and therefore sell the software / licences at a greatly reduced price.
Mcshammer_dj Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 WE have a select agreement for all schools that we hold as an LA and the schools then use our supplier to purchase the software and or media. There is a select number and our approved software supplier are authorised to sell to our sites using the codes and prices that are matched to the agreement

Nedders Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 The agreement is of more use for things like Server software, Office, etc where you will receive considerable educational discounts, however when buying PCs you would invariably be better off ordering the operating system from the PC manufacture at the same time and in any case you would have to order the PC with at least the basic Microsoft operating system (eg XP Home) and then order the upgrade (to say XP Pro) from the select agreement supplier. You cannot order the actual original operating systems using Select agreements and must have a basic o/s on the PC to have the valid upgraded o/s. Clear as mud!! 1
