Looking at changing my supplier from Sky. Have been looking at O2. Anyone using them at the moment?

Because at the moment I'm paying £20 a month, plus £10 bt. Getting a freesat box, so no need for the tv package. Save my self some money...

That's only if you have a mobile contract as well, if I understand correctly?

I'm currently with o2, and they're alright.

However we're not in an LLU area, so we can only get their connect package which is more expensive.

One thing we have noticed is the supplied router can lose connection (it keeps the line sync, just drops the internet connection) from time to time.

You can use your own router though if you phone them up and ask for the config settings.

I use their router (Mine died) and connection has been at max speed for 3 weeks without drops or speed change!

 

The cheaper rate is for mobie users only (P&G is allowed though)

They are very good although occasionally their DNS servers will die. OpenDNS is a good replacement though. Some people say their exchange is overloaded but I have never had any problems.

I've heard good things about BeThere.

 

I went with Virgins 20mb fibre optic in the end because I couldn't be bothered with BT and just wanted my phone, tv and internet from one supplier.

No major problems with Be - always suspected they had "something going on" upstream that I wasn't fully party to, and the Wikipedia/IWF business proved that! Just occasionally get the feeling that someone was fiddling with my packets

 

OTOH, really reliable, fast, good value. No idea about support.

 

At home, I use UKOnline, and I have never had a better ISP. Current *connection* uptime is 340d 23h 53m 41s!

If you're looking for speed, make sure your line is up to scratch, I only live a 5-10 minute walk from the exchange but apparntly our line is only good for 14mb, so I have cable which is great @ 20mb, 50mb soon.

 

Although new laws came into effect monday did they not? requiring the companies who sell broadband to give an "accurate representation" of the connection you will be getting to your house, non of that "up to 16mb" carp now it'll be all "Up to 7.4mb on your line"
