I've seen them! They were parked in the McDonalds accross the road from my old office about a year ago. Was a dark van with "Google" on the side with a strange mounted camera unit on top.

Cancer is terrible but I really can't feign interest or compassion for Jade Goody. Yes she's taking full advantage of her fame and I can't blame her for wanting to make money for her kids but it seems to me that the most worthwhile thing she's done, in terms of making a positive impact in this world, is raising awareness of cancer by dying of it. I would never wish her ill but I can't stand people who are famous for nothing, especially when there are people out there working hard everyday to make the world a better place and get no recognition at all.

Hmm.. Sounds to me like they're confused about whether they want a technician or a network manager. They've advertised for a technician, paying a technician salery but the job descripition contains network manager roles as well as day to day technician responsibilities. I think they want one person to act as the entire ICT support team! -

My advice would be talk to your network manager and tutor first, see if they can offer any help or advice. They may be able to put you in contact with some more people that can help. Im in the process of trying to find another technician job within Kent and so far I've just been checking all the local schools vacancies on their websites as well as phoning them and asking to speak to their network mangers. Alot of them just say "thanks but we don't need anyone" but a few of them have also said that they are going to be looking at taking on more ICT staff and took my details. Be proactive and put your name around. The fact that you can't drive just means you'll have to get up earlier to catch the bus/train to get into work. Either that or get a bike if there are some local schools within riding distance that may have some work for you. I was kicking myself for not phoning round earlier as one school I talked to said that they did have a vacancy for an ICT Technician but it was filled 2 days ago! Stay positive and good luck dude!

The only groups I would be remotely interested in seeing in that line up would be Prodigy and possibly Pendulem. The rest I would avoid like a rash in fear of getting bottled by a fat kneckbeard yelling TIMMMAAYY! The only vaguley rock/metal festival I went to was Reading 2006 and we only went for Sunday evening to see Pearl Jam. I'm never going again. The place was like a warzone! Everyone was burning everything and going mad because it was the last day. I couldn't get the smell of burning plastic out of my hair for weeks. Not a good vibe at all. I've had a much better time at the past two Glastonbury festivals despite the rain and mud. Last year was good though, lots of sunshine, lots of different types of music and all night parties. The silent disco's are great and go on til the wee hours. Everyone wears wireless headphones to listen to the DJ so everyone can party and not keep other campers awake. Wicked idea. It's so weird walking past the tent and watching hundreds of people dance to silence.

I don't think were that "unenlightened" at the moment. Were pretty much free to believe what we want without fear of being attacked for it (well, almost) I don't think it's as black and white as "you either believe in God/the divine and are a religious person or you believe in science/reason and are an atheist", it's possible to believe in God and have a scientific worldview regardless of people's desire to pigeonhole and to segregate. I think it's the attitude of "you're either with us or against us" which is the most damaging attitude to have. Whether its between Christians and Muslims or Atheists and the whole religious community. If you take Thomas Paine for example, the 18th century man who wrote "Common Sense", "The Rights of Man" and "The Age of Reason". He cared deeply about civil and human rights, the abuse of power by those in the Monarchy and those in organised religions, yet he himself believed in God and reason. Thomas Paine lost a lot of friends and died alone because of his radical views on religion. I like to think we've made progress as a society and to compare our "unenlightened times" with days of witch trials is a bit dramatic. The only witch hunts that are happening now are being orchestrated by Dawkins and his faithful followers

I didn't say I believed in telepathy. I was just proving that Dawkins was not interested in seeing or discussing evidence concerning a subject that he raised with another scientist who is researching it. That's all. Well that’s it. There are people researching the paranormal to bring their research into the realms of scientific studies, but it doesn't help that people like Dawkins try to shoot them down, claiming that their efforts are futile and that they should stop embarrassing themselves. It's a very old attitude to have. I thought he was saying that we should be able to just enjoy the thrill of the mystery, without having to claim that we know what it is. Just be a part of it. Oh yes, the quantum world, to me, is far more interesting than the paranormal world. I like the idea of an unlimited number of universes where every possible outcome of every possible action is played out. It would at least answer those that say "what are the chances that we're here? It must be God!" When you get into the realm of an infinite number of possibilities then the improbable suddenly becomes a definite.

He wasn't interested in seeing evidence from Rupert Sheldrake concerning his research into telepathy. Even Dawkins called the series a"high grade debunking exercise. Very unbiased and scientific of him. The spiritual world shouldn't attack scientific world and vice versa. The two can co-exist as they are both essential parts of the human experiance. You can be a great scientist and still believe in the mystical.

Did I say there was any damage done in the name of Atheism? No. I don't want to get caught up in arguing about religion on the internet, it's totaly fruitless. I did however say that Dawkins could be as bad as fundamentalist religious folk in his approach in dealing with people that have attitudes or beliefs which contradict his. When I watched his series "The enemies of reason" I was prepared to see a fair, scientific approach of a range of subjects that science can't, or is in the process of trying to, explain. What I saw was a dogmatic, closed minded, debunking operation set out to discredit anyone who disagreed with Dawkins world view. Dawkins is a smart man, Im not denying that. I just think that his arrogance gets in the way of making any real progress with spirituality and the sciences.

This book is a good read for anyone that's willing to explore spirituality/dreams/the after"life" from a scientific stand point. I used to be atheist, now Im agnostic and I see hard nosed atheists, such as Dawkins, as being just as bad as stubborn religious folk in terms of open-mindness. I recognise the damage done by organised religions but I don't condemn all religious or spiritual attitudes. For the most part religious people are good people, but I've also met many that are pure evil who think they are good because they follow the words of another. foolish.
