Hi I tryed disabling sleep and wakeup in windows in a it room in our school, we use roaming profiles.

the way i amended the setting was to go to power options, and then when to advanced and then it gives you options like "when i press the power button shutdown the computer". i amended the settings to Do nothing. now it seemed to work for a couple of weeks but has now started appearing again, where pupils will press the button and it puts it into a sleep mode.

is this a setting which can be applied in group policy or is there another way i need to set this up so pupils can not overide this setting

any help would be great.

The best way to perform this is via the PC BIOS... just turn off power management support. It could take you a while though ;)

I looked at the bios and there is something to do with power management but not to do with what i am trying to do.

the motherboard we have is a leadtek winfast k8s760mg motherboard. It has features like acpi function, video off method, but none of these options seem to work

I am just wondering is there an option like a registry setting so I can implement that setting everytime a user logs on.

thanks

Will the EZ gpo work, because I looked into that, i Put the adm in group policy but there was no option in there to completly disable power management.

the way the pupils are doing it is there pressing the buttons on the keyboard like power sleep.

I have used it - tho not fully - just to tell all machines to use the Always On method which seems to work fine i.e. only the monitor goes off after 20 min and sleep, standby etc are disabled.

Not got it to hand but you can use the adm template or it could well be just a registry setting that chooses Always On which may be all you need.

Try searching the forum a bit as we have discussed it before on here - at least - i know i have hehe :)

To save further confusion over what were trying to do :-

In - Power Options Properties => Advanced => Power Buttons section.

All we want is these to be set to "Do Nothing" for when I press the power button and sleep button. We need these to be set at logon.

I've tried the EZ GPO thing with no luck, and reg-snaped the changes but could not recreate the power options.

Is there a simple way of forcing these values at logon?

Thanks

Chris
