SYNACK Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 Today I stubled over a dream server room, construced in Sweden protected by 30 meters of rock and 16" thick steal doors with indoor waterfalls and sparsely forested areas it has to be one of the coolest places to work ever. Not even counting the triple redundant backbone fibres that feed it and the twin submarine Maybach deisels that provide backup power at 11950 sq feet it is stupidly impressive. torledo Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 Hooking up those diesel engines, would that have been an entirely custom job, or do the engines generate power in the subs anyway....so they would have had a headstart in setting it up as a generator.
Abaddon Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 I've just added a cave into my budget for next year! I do hope the Bursar sees sense and approves it!

Deisel subs hook the engines directly up to generation units that charge batteries so that the subs can run effectivly silent when doing military type stuff. You are right that they would have had to have been specially intigrated though. @Stu - as to the toilet I am sure that there is one down there somewhere but the rather crudely drawn plans have not included it. @FN-GM - I would settle for a vending machine / fridge full of Red Bull or V
Jiser Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 That is sooo sweet! Imagine the parties you could have there - even in the 'moon surfaced' conferance room. When I win the lottery my mansion will be built in a mountain/cave like this.
plexer Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 I think somebody should put the fire out though, all that smoke is distracting Ben 1
Mcshammer_dj Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 What is going to happen when Ernst Stavro Blofeld discovers that his evil henchman have sold out and are using his secret base like this?????
FN-GM Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 I think somebody should put the fire out though, all that smoke is distracting Ben one rep point for that one
User3204 Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 That conference room is far too close to the server room, they'd want to come and look around... On the plus side ... they have an office woohoo, can I get one too ?
Andrew_C Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 You wouldn't wwant to start building that over here... The Ministry of Works had no imagination! BBC - Gloucestershire - Places - Photos: Disused Nuclear Bunker
SYNACK Posted April 16, 2009 Author Posted April 16, 2009 Just found a video interview that goes inside this marvel of subteranian server housing: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qwlATf9xse4&feature=player_embedded]YouTube - Episode 11 - White Mountain, Fit For A James Bond Villain![/ame]
DAckroyd Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Now only one question remains, how do I get a budget for one are you due to become an academy or BSF any time soon?
K.C.Leblanc Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 How can that be a great server room, it doesn't have a stealth beam to prevent you being found or real ale on draft. 1
