Jobos Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 HT is thinking about fitting an ICT suite out with 30 laptops . Just to get an idea of costs I’m assuming that 2 APs would be needed to split the load and I’m I right in thinking that said AP’s would need to be quality types so load splitting could be accomplished? Any recommendations on the models needed?
matt40k Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Something that supports RADIUS and POE. Tho POE isn't all that important. http://www.edugeek.net/forums/networks/2920-radius-ias.html Pretty easy to do. I would still cable it tho. Unless they want it wireless. In which case I hope your network infrastruture will cope (no large remoting profiles \ login scripts etc)
rh91uk Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 @jobos - I definetly reccomend the Netgear WPN802 RangeMax, it has radius, and has such a far range its unbelivable, all of our AP's (the small few we have) are these.
Jobos Posted October 29, 2008 Author Posted October 29, 2008 @richardharris: thanks for the recommendation but looking at the specs on Miscos website I can’t see anything about load balancing. Are you sure it can do that?
Sylv3r Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Depending on what your wanting to do on the laptops, you may need more than 2 AP's especially if they are all going to be logging onto the network etc at the same time.
