main one is station ID's - keeps telling me they are all in use already!

Also, read somewhere that the server bit needs to be installed from a client?? is this true - cos i installed that bit from the server (naturally)..

Would ur MSI package work for me? :-S

Don't get me started on SukkySessMaker!

IIRC you need to either run the install locally or tweak a file since all the IDs must be different.

It really is poor and IMHO doesn't provide a huge amount - especially when you consider the initial and ongoing costs (I don't think the RM people know about numbers of less than 4 digits!)

Ric_, don't suppose you could find out what that file tweak is?

Will strip it off the server tomorrow and try installing it from a client machine see if there is any difference

I've heard its a crappy program, but our LSB staff want it and have been moaning at me to install it since I had to rebuild the DC's back in Feb

I don't think students need write access to the successmaker drive - I'm fairly sure all the data is stored in the database, rather than the file system.

If you can let me know how you managed to build your MSI (or provide us with a copy of yours), it'd make my life a bit easier - I need to prepare an MSI package for deploying the client next academic year.

@Gatt: Left that place a year ago! IIRC the file is ferreted away somewhere and it was easier just to do a manual install on the handful of machines we had licenses for.

Assuming you bought this from RM then you can get quite good support from their web site (many docs on installation etc.) and their telephone support. I've always found the successmaker support team to be really quite good.

I too have an MSI for the client install. Not sure now if it's a repackage or a wrapped up silent install.

I do know the sucksass maker pinches the file associate for WSF (should be for Windows Script Files) which buggered up my logon script!

We have it installed on 5 machines hidden in the deep depths of the school never to bbe looked at by Support Staff as it causes blindness and skin rash.

(install on standalone machines is the best bet, if anything goes wrong....pray)
