at the moment the printer is connected to one of the machines (both connected to the whoel school network) and then the other machine is set to default to that shared printer. Ill check out the spooling shortly....run off my feet atm with these damn exams. "Where is the remote for this DVD player? the exam starts in 2 mins"

We have 2 Xp Pro PC connected to one Lexmark Z53 in a small biology office. For some weird reason the printer will only print one document at a time. If 2 people are logged on and they each send 2 documents only 1 document from one of the users will print. Does anyone have any idea why the documents are not queuing up as they should?

Fantastic Now to test

The install itself is basically just Xp Pro where someone has edited the install to not include a variety of things which are seen to be expendable. The source is the same. I dont see much of a problem tbh. And yes a schools agreement. Gus

This is a complicated one. We have a site licence for Xp Pro in school. We are running 2 networks, 1 ICL one linked to all the other schools in Moray and 1 in school computing network running windows 2000. the win 2000 computing network is being nasty as hell and i want to upgrade it to win xp pro so im going to test this setup on an old server and 2 machines to see how well it works and if it works....If so ill do it in the summer hols. Now these older machines are PIII 128Mb RAM which i will stick another 128Mb into. The main question is....can i legaly install Windows Xp Stripped? its xp pro but stripped of all the "crap" that slows the systems down, no games, visual styles etc etc. Just barebones OS and Drivers etc. This Os runs like a dream on these machines once they have 256Mb RAM in them and i think it would sort all my damn problems with compatability etc out. Gus

We have it installed on 5 machines hidden in the deep depths of the school never to bbe looked at by Support Staff as it causes blindness and skin rash. (install on standalone machines is the best bet, if anything goes wrong....pray)

i have updated the drivers but not the game, ill reinstall remotely now. There has been a patch about 2 months ago though so i doubt it would have anything to do with the issue. Yea its an MMPORG spacey game Cheers Gus

If you refer back to "Spaces in Username Box" and check my posts including the scripts for this kind of thing you will see exactly what our system runs and how the script should look. After logout the ctr+alt+delete screen will appear around 60 seconds after, if nothing has been typed into the login box the ctr+alt+del screen will revert back after 60 seconds. This counts for the screensaver also.

Ok contained here is alog of a script which i think runs everytime a user logs off our system.... I'll have a look about and see what i can find, there is probably a config file you can edit the delay with but if its even possible you would have to deploy/update that file individually to every machine as far as i know...

Here is an example of the ctrl+alt+del system we run here, its foolproof and tamper proof. So there is a way of doing it

Well thats stupid! Then again i have said these words about alot of windows OS. Microsoft should come with an EASY wasy of changing the operating language like any dvd player or whetever would, even if it involves downloading a language pack from their website. Believe it or not people can speak more than one language these days. Apparently not half the pupils at this school though 8)
