\\:D/ Finally cracked it yay i formated the msi machine and deleted the file it was refereing to then stopped the service, Made the msi as normal took a few registry keys out and hey presto it works phew! Thanks for all your help guys

i have edited the package till im blue in the face and cannot find any files that refer to windows update, its driving me up the wall lol

it installs fine its just removing it that is the problem! thats when we get the error!

is there anyway around it?

Ive tried that and its now saying another programme has exclusive access to c:\windows\windowsupdate.log;

Yeah i am able to edit the package.

aparently they dont have access to the following c:\windows\windowsupdate.log; please shut down all other applications, then click retry

i've tried both ways per machine and per user and it makes no difference what's so ever! its soo frustrating never had this problem before!!

](*,) Hi im having a real problem installing either of these msi's they seem to roll on fine and they work both as staff and students but you cant roll them off or even uninstall them from the actual machines they are on! PLEASE HELP!!!

Yeah we have enabled it now so we will see how it goes, just wondering about the time lapse now, was wondering if there is anyway of shorting the time it takes for it to pop up????

oh no our kids are not that clever to think of deleting anything already in the box

No its not a major problem, just very annoying when you have walk all over the school every lesson to sort that out because the kids look at you gone out when you try and explain it to them.

Hey, I've got a problem at the moment where the kids have figured out that if you put spaces in the username box noone can log on eg, jonejones........................................loser I was wondering if anyone knew if it is possible to stop people typing spaces into the username box? Windows 2003 Thanks
