Great Barr Job Advert [split thread]

[Netware]

sorry not being rude but £16,600

[kmount]

sorry not being rude but £16,600

Point?

[matt40k]

Websites doesn't like IE6 (like those ads that are in some parts of EduGeek).

Guess the school doesn't teach good web design

£16k is rather low, however for a school leaver.

Previously I have advertised for technicians for less pay and I have to say these guys have done a great job for me and my team. Between 2 jobs advertised I had over 300 application forms which took me hours to get through because we wanted the best. I guess when you have 300 application forms it means IT is a big market in our local city and everyone who has applied for it has been prepared to paid that amount. If you dont want to earn that amount of money or dont want to work here - dont apply but I know I will still get the best.

[matt40k]

Would like to point out that appears to meant with EPM recommend pay scale too... Cambridgeshire\Suffolk... anything closer to London should be more because of the london thing,... can't remember the correct word. Edited October 22, 2008 by MkII

No you won't,

What you may get is the best of the people that are prepaired to work for a low wage. This is not the same thing as getting the best...

the london thing,... can't remember the correct word.

Weighting....I guess it's called that because the workload's heavier...

[tech-man]

Pay is very low, considering your a large school.

[EduTech]

I dont get paid nothing where i work.. and work from 8 - 5:30 so that is not always entirely true.

i dont do a bad job... at least i dont get told that anyway

James.

[Midget]

When you get your new techy, please can you welcome them by shouting

"YOU'RE BARRED!"

[Netware]

Point?

my point is if you want the best then you have to pay for it, thats all:)

[Little-Miss]

£16,600.....must be a Birmingham thing...

[ChrisH]

Can we please stick to genuine questions about the job and not moaning about the wage as usual.

[apearce]

Everyone,

This is getting a little silly. The we want the best etc its a figure of speech to make people look at the advert - if they choose to apply for it or not. Its marketing.

I feel let down by this whole user group as all I am trying to do is advertise a job and I want the right person.

If you feel you want to talk to me about the pay than please take it offline and Private Message me.

There has been at least one clear incident where we have split a thread due to attacks on the job being advertised.

If you do not like the job and wish to make a comment then do so constructively *IN A NEW THREAD* to allow those that wish to apply to ask relevant questions.

Whilst people may want salaries to be higher you may not know the background of the LA, the School or even the job role in question or be aware of future plans.

Please consider this when posting replies to job adverts in future. This thread will be split off later but until then it will be locked. If you have any further queries about the post (especially considering the timescales) please PM the original poster.
