Can anyone help with this. One of the staff (who is now very agitated and stressed) was told by my new IT assistant (who didn't know any better) to say yes to the do you want to auto archive in outlook 2007 .problem is the default save location is local settings in there profile which does not get save back when they log off. I have looked on the actual machine she did it on but no luck.Is there any other way anyone knows about to recover these we run exchange 2007 also. If so you could save me from a fate worse than death.

Yes just realized we have storage groups backed up.(I didn't set this up colleague did now hes left).Just finding correct tape. Then some instructions of recovery would be good

...ages since I used it; I expect someone here can put you on the right track, but I seem to remember that it's fairly straightforward - just a matter of running a Restore job, opening up the section containing the mailboxes, and ticking the one you want...(I presume this will leave any new existing emails for that user in place, though I couldn't swear to it.)

Well that was fun

Did a disaster recovery on the storage group and got back missing emails

I am now a God (for 1 day only till next problem)

It was fairly easy when i got down to it

Ran the wizard to create a recovery storage group

restored backup data

merged the 2 mailboxes together using powershell.
