Printer credit

I wasn't sure what thread to put this in so though this would do.

 

We have just installed print limit pro and i am wondering what kind of fee's other schools charge for a color print out and how much print allowance they allocate to each year group?

 

Any advise would be great.

We allow pupils 20 pages per week and staff 50. With the exception of ICT staff who have 100 pages.

We allow 20 a week for students and 400 for staff.

 

Students then ask for more to 'print their coursework'

We charge 3p per BW page, 13p for colour

 

Kids get up to £2.50 credit per half term depending on their year. They cannot print in colour.

 

Staff get allocated an arbitrarily large amount of credit, and their budgets are actually charged according to what they use.

We charge 2p for mono, 10p for colour.

 

Kids are given 50p per week, this can roll over - up to £4.

 

Staff aren't restricted - just monitored

Wow! Some of you are cheap. After find ing that 5p mono, 10p colour meant nothing to anyone, we went for 'real world pricing'

 

10p mono, 35p colour and adjusted print allowances accordingly.

 

The kids can print 70p per day (we have primary age kids)

The basic staff allowance is £5.50 a week - though some (e.g. early years) have more

 

This was very effective.. especially as we now have blocked printing directly from the internet and printing unsaved documents. Our toner bills have halved.

We give them a varying amount depending on the year they're in - starting with 250 b&w pages in year 7 up to 400 in 6th form. A colour print classes as 2 pages. If they run out, they have to pay for any more, at 3p per page. Coursework hand-in days inevitably have a long queue of people proffering cash...

I worked out the approximate costs for toner/ink and that is what people are charged. This equates to less than 1p for A4 mono and up to 20p for A3 colour.

 

Pupils are given £2 at the start of the year and when that runs out they have to top it up.

 

Departments are charged once a term for their printing.

Students are allocated from 33 to 100 credits per week depending on year group. Mono page = 1 credit and colour = 4. Staff have 100 credits per week. I tried to implement a policy of charging for excessive usage, but SMT lacked the courage to support it.
