teacher has given me a old laptop to try to get working again. error message is system32\drivers\ntfs.sys

so then boot from xp disk to try to fix and then this message.

file setupdd.sys could not be loaded the error code is 7.

i have searched lots of places for help on this and most keep saying it could be a ram problem. there is only 1 stick in it and i have replaced it with another working one and still same error.

also some say try resetting the bios but for some reason i cannot even get into bios none of the normal prompt keys work for this.

any other ideas at all please guys??

Different manufacturers have different key combos to get into the BIOS.

Have you checked on the manufacturers website to check you're doing it right?

I find the Toshiba laptops to be the most silly. (press ESC like a mad bugger at bootup, until it beeps, then press F1).
